Senior Reporting Developer
About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Reporting Developer with 7–10 years of experience building and owning enterprise reporting solutions. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, accurate reports at scale — working with large data volumes, complex business logic, and cross-functional stakeholders who depend on the numbers being right. This is a hands-on role that requires both technical depth and a sharp eye for data accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Architect, develop, and maintain complex SSRS reports — drilldowns, drill through, sub reports, matrix layouts, parameterized reports, and custom expressions.
• Write and optimize advanced T-SQL against Azure SQL — stored procedures, CTEs, window functions, dynamic SQL, and execution plan analysis for large datasets.
• Reconcile report output against source data and business expectations — identify and resolve discrepancies, validate totals, and ensure numbers are audit-ready.
• Handle high-volume data scenarios — design reports and queries that perform reliably under significant data loads without timeouts or degradation.
• Own delivery quality end-to-end — from requirements sign-off to UAT support, ensuring reports are accurate, consistent, and meet business standards before go-live.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business reporting needs into clear, maintainable solutions.
• Manage SSRS Report Server — deployments, subscriptions, data source configuration, and role-based security.
• Apply DevOps practices to reporting — version control for RDL files, CI/CD pipelines for SSRS deployments, release management.
• Proactively identify performance bottlenecks in existing reports and underlying queries and drive resolutions.
• Mentor junior developers on T-SQL standards, report design, and data validation practices.
Required Skills
• 7–10 years of hands-on experience with SSRS report development (RDL/RDLC).
• Strong Azure SQL expertise — query optimization, indexing strategies, handling large data volumes efficiently.
• Proven track record of number reconciliation — cross-validating figures across systems, resolving data mismatches, and ensuring report accuracy.
• Experience working with high-volume datasets — understanding of query execution, data pagination, aggregation strategies, and avoiding common performance pitfalls.
• Strong ownership mindset around delivery quality — thorough testing, peer review, and sign-off practices.
• Exposure to DevOps practices for reporting — Git-based version control for reports, automated deployments, environment management (Dev/QA/Prod).
Nice to Have
• Experience with Power BI (paginated reports or semantic models).
• Experience with SSAS Tabular or multidimensional models as data sources.
• Knowledge of report governance frameworks and audit trail requirements.
What We’re Looking For
Someone who takes ownership of the numbers. You should be the person who spots when a total doesn’t add up, traces it back to the source, and fixes it — not someone who ships a report and moves on. You combine technical depth in SSRS and Azure SQL with a delivery-focused mindset and the discipline to handle large, complex datasets accurately and reliably.
