About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and ensure the availability of our SQL Server database environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in database infrastructure administration, hands-on experience with high availability solutions, and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize SQL performance. This role also requires excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration & Infrastructure Management

• Manage, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases, including Availability Groups.
• Administer authentication, security, and login processes to ensure compliance and reliability.
• Perform regular health checks, backups, restores, and capacity planning.
• Identify and resolve performance issues at both the database and query level.
• Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexes to improve efficiency.
• Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and provide long-term solutions.

• Implement monitoring tools and alerts for proactive database health management.
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and data integrity.
• Maintain documentation for configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and business teams to support database needs.
• Clearly communicate technical issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide input on database architecture and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

Infrastructure DBA Skills (4+ years):

• Strong expertise in SQL Server installation, configuration, and administration.
• Hands-on experience with Availability Groups, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Solid understanding of SQL Server authentication, login, and user management.

Performance Troubleshooting & Optimization (2+ years):

• Proven experience in diagnosing SQL performance issues.
• Proficiency in query tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis.

Other Key Skills:

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Experience with cloud-based SQL solutions (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.).
• Knowledge of automation using PowerShell or other scripting languages.
• Exposure to database migration and upgrade projects.

Mode: Work from Office

Work Location: Mumbai

Working Hours: 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM IST or 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST (as per the US daylight saving schedule)
